Untitled Educational VR Game
While at Warducks I worked with the Art Director to develop a POC for an educational game based on the solar system.
Description
The idea behind this project was to create an educational VR experience that could teach people about our solar system, especially about the scale of its distances and speeds. I spent a couple of weeks working with the art director to create a proof of concept that could show everything we wanted to accomplish and could be pitched to a publisher. Some of the features of the game were:
- Displaying the solar system at true scale to show how, even with the size of planets like Jupiter and Saturn the distances are just so vast nothing is visible
- Scaling up the planets 20x to get a sense of their positions and relative sizes
- Displaying a trail to show the orbits
- Swapping between a heliocentric and geocentric model which, when combined with the orbital trails, shows just why the geocentric model is too ridiculous to be possible
- Allow jumping between planets to see what the solar system looks like from different planetary perspectives
Sadly this project was not picked up for publishing and so it was cancelled.
